Restaurant near Cooper Union

Going to a play at the Public Theater on a Thursday night. Any suggestions for a moderately priced but delicious place for an early dinner?

Gyu-Kaku and Menkui-Tei are both pretty good, and cheapish. The former is fancier.

menkui tei has a fun quirky menu. generally good, but i have had a clunker or 2 there as well

I've only been there for lunch, and I usually get whatever seafood or vegetable ramen is on special. I've never disliked the food, but the service can be slow and distracted. I'm a sucker for a place with a lot of handwritten signs, generally.

the Akamaru Modern is my go to, if i want something lighter the Tori Ramen is lovely

be aware that they don;t take reservations, so you need to show up early. however if you show up early enough on the same day they will have seats for you at a set time, i believe
