Mother's Day Dinner

  • 7

Where should I take my mom for a special mother's day dinner in philly? We like all types of food (and especially seafood). I've thought about fish or little fish -- those are options. Any other thoughts (not limited to seafood)? Do you know of any restaurants running a special menu for mother's day?

Thanks!

  1. I can almost guarantee you just about every restaurant in the country will be serving a special mother's day menu, as it is considered one of the busiest days in the restaurant business.

Is there a certain area of the city (or suburb) you are looking for?

Thanks -- I figured there would be specials everywhere. I just can't decide where to go! Anywhere in the city works for us.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but Mother's Day is one of the worst days to go out to a restaurant. The reason they do a fixed menu is so the kitchen can crank out meals and turn over tables. Is your mother any less special if you take her out a week before or a week later when you can enjoy a more relaxing meal and order anything you want off of the menu?

You read my mind PR. Mother's Day is the one day of the year I will absolutely not set foot in a restaurant.

    2. While I wholeheartedly agree with all of the sentiments expressed below, I would say you should have a better experience at a smaller restaurant on Mothers Day. Fish or Little Fish, Meme, Matyson, Bibou to name just a few smaller restaurants will provide a much nicer experience than a larger one. And if at all possible get a reservation earlier in the seating rather than later.

Mother's day is the worst. Overpriced. But yeah, it's Mother's day and taking your mother out before or after isn't quite the same. I'd ask her (Mom) to decide (once my kids took me to Buddakan. ??? Last year (my son asked ) and we went to Cantina Los Caballitos and it was fun, cheap and excellent. Definitely let her pick from a few choices and think small.

Yes Mom's day is right up there with Vallentines and New Years Eve! I like the think small approach. I always am grateful just to find a place serving a regular menu. Not an easy task!
