25th birthday - looking for venue
I am looking for a venue to host my 25th birthday at. I am specifically interested in having a dance floor (or an adequate area to dance), the ability to play my own music (via ipod) OR have a band play, and it should be able to accommodate up to 50 people. I am looking for a place that isn't too pricey for drinks... and I may want to have dinner at the venue as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It seems hard to find a place with all of these aspects. I don't mind if there is a bar minimum, although my maximum would have to be 1000 dollars.
Thanks in advance!
Ashley
First of all, Happy early birthday Ashley!!
What kind of place do you want? You can book O'Grady's (both the one on Church and the one on College) for no fee if you have a lot of people show up. Call to confirm, but I think you can accommodate around 40...so a little less than 50 but maybe okay? I'd just go there, blast music, and have great time :-). You can get group platters and a deal for beer/drinks if you negotiate.
For a max of $1000, I'm not sure what else I can come up with at the moment other than pubs - Football Factory would be good too for the space and food, maybe not for the dancing. Venues like the Drake and Gladstone are probably outside of your price range =)

The upstairs pool hall at the Rivoli has everything you want (maybe not the band part). You're going to find it difficult with 50 people for $1000 bar tab. That's $20 a head (two drinks at most bars).
