Conch fritters in Toronto ??

Does anyone know of a restaurant in Toronto that serves conch fritters? I've got a craving....bad !! They used to have them at the Bahamian Kitchen at Baldwin & McCaul, but I think they're long gone.

  1. Delux definitely has them as part of their lunch and brunch and they are fantastic.

I find that the cuban-style conch fritters differ from the west indian style...just something to think about. Just returned from the Grenadines where i ate my fill of conch fritters - mmmmmmm!!

I've made a note of Delux, but have yet to try them. Yes, I was wondering whether a Cuban place would prepare them the same as they do in the Bahamas. Then again, I wonder whether it is possible to make non-yummy conch fritters !! You just got back from the Grenadines ? So......did you fill your suitcases with conch fritters to bring home ?

      2. Had them at Taste of the Carribean in Newmarket some time ago. Think they are still there.

Interested in making them yourself ? I've regularly seen fresh conch at a nice seafood market and grocery called Starfish at 1746 Weston Rd. A must stop for Carribean supplies.

PS I just got back from the Grenadines Saturday. Ate fantastic conch fritters, conch ceviche, callaloo in soup and stewed, grilled Mahi Mahi, lots of cured goat + chicken over rice, and fried flying fish (at a short stay over in Barbados). All amazing. One of the prettiest places on earth AND fantastic fresh local food. Pure heaven.
