Strawberry Frosting help

I am making lemon cupcakes with a Strawberry lemon curd filling and want to frost them with a strawberry frosting. I had a recipe I was going to use but since these will be in a basket and will be sitting out for a few hours and the recipe was to use cream cheese but since that needs refrigeration I do not know if the other version of the recipe with just butter will work or is their a great butter cream icing recipe I can make. I already have 1/4 cup strawberry puree with a it of lemon juice along with some finely chopped pieces of strawberries. I want to use this mixture in the frosting to make it have a great strawberry flavor with real chunks of strawberries.

The original recipe is ...
2 sticks of butter or 1 stick and 8oz of cream cheese
1/4 cup strawberry puree
3-4 cups of powdered sugar
Beat the butter and cream cheese then add puree.
Slowly add sugar till you get the thickness desired.

So would this recipe work with just the butter or do I need a whole other recipe.

    I used the 2 sticks of butter and it turned out wonderful. I will use that recipe again for sure.

      I don't know if this is too late. But this is the strawberry buttercream recipe that I will be using for my strawberry lemonade cupcakes when I make them for a house warming party.

      * 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
      * 1/4 cup pureed strawberries (made from fresh or frozen strawberries)
      * 1 tsp. lemon juice
      * 1 tsp. vanilla
      * 3 – 4 cups powdered sugar (adjust to achieve desired consistency)

      Cream butter in an electric mixer on medium-speed until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Then add in the strawberries, vanilla and lemon juice, and mix on low-speed until combined. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and mix until combined. Then beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, another 3-5 minutes. (Add in more powdered sugar if consistency is too thin.)

      Recipe from Gimme Some Oven

      It says this will be enough for 2 dozen cupcakes if you are just frosting but if you are piping then it needs to be double.

        It would work with butter but I'd still do the cream cheese and leave it at room temperature.
