Quick April Trip to NOLA (2nd visit)

So excited to visit NO for the second time in two years. This trip (April 17 - 22) combines some professional meetings, for my grown daughter, along with fun/food/walks for both of us. This itinerary is subject to change depending on her meetings, but here is a start. (Last year we ate at Bayona, Cafe Amelie, Croissant D'Or, Cafe Beignet, Carousel Bar, Baccanal, Johhny's Po-Boys, Camellia Grill, Antoine's [dessert only], Coop's, Casamento's... and a few others.)

This jaunt -- and it looks like I will be visiting more and more -- we only have four full days, so here are my thoughts. Much of this is based on the best desserts post from a few weeks (?) ago:

Monday dinner: Bar food/drinks at Dickie Brennan’s - we get in/settled around 7 pm and hotel is in FQ.

~Tuesday lunch @ August, have reservation! Thanks Chowhound Board for the heads-up about their 3- course lunch.
If free, Audubon Park/Zoo
~Tuesday dinner/dessert @ Camellia Grill featuring the Pecan Pie on the grill.

~Wed lunch @ Johnny’s Po-Boys
Wed pm, meetings. If not, free day at NOMA
~Wed bar food/ Happy Hour @ Three Muses
~Wed dessert – Sweet Potato Pie @ Praline Connection (daughter has never had SPP.)
Music on Frenchmen Street

~Thursday lunch ?
~Thursday dinner/dessert – Bistro Coquette for Chocolate Pot Du Crème/Beignet
Do I need reservations for Coquette on a Thurs?

Friday lunch ?
Friday pm, meetings & touring around town
Friday Happy Hour?
Friday dinner – Boiled crawfish somewhere?

If we have time, I am thinking about Dick N Jenny's, Elizabeth's and Reconcile Cafe.

Although we leave early Sat am .. we will be back!

Any help appreciated!!!

K

You can't go wrong with Cochon for dinner and Cochon Butcher for lunch. If you go to Camellia Grill, request to be seated in Marvin's section. He will entertain you with hit wit and wisdom. We discovered Cafe Atchafalaya on our last trip to NoLa in September. We had a nice Sunday brunch with great food and attentive service. We are going back to NoLa next week and plan to go to Atchafalaya for dinner. Another of our all time favorites is Susan Spicer's Bayona. Bayona offers a nice tasting menu for lunch on Weds. thru Sat. It is pricey and you should make a reservation.

Thank you so much for these new recommendations. Fortunately, we had a very special dinner at Bayona our very first trip to NOLA last year, so we will save a re-peat that for another time. I am saving Couchon-- and a few of the other "big" ones for a late trip.

Here's our (almost final) eating itinerary for next week. (Sounds like we are in NOLA at the same time!)
Monday dinner @ Dickie Brennan’s bar.
      ~~

Tuesday lunch @ Restaurant August [reserved]
Tuesday Happy Hour @ Carousel Bar (love it!) or Columns Hotel Bar porch overlooking St. Charles street.
Tuesday Dinner? * Perhaps we will try Cafe Atcha....*
Tuesday Snack or Dessert @ Camellia Grill – we went there twice last time. Such a fun, very NOLA place.
      ~~
Wednesday lunch @ Parkway Bakery, if we are out of FQ, if not Johnny’s, either way Po-Boys!
Wednesday Happy Hour @ Three Muses on Frenchmen Street.
Wednesday Dessert @ Praline Connection for Sweet Potato Pie. Robyn has never had it this delicacy.
Wednesday night: Music on Frenchmen Street
      ~~
      Thursday lunch @ Reconcile Café.
      Thursday Happy Hour @ Lucy’s
Thursday dinner/dessert @ Bistro Coquette [reserved]
      ~~
      Friday lunch @ Emeril’s [reserved].
Friday Happy Hour @ Café Amelie, drinks on a lovely FQ patio
Friday dinner @ Casamentos OR cheap “Crawfish boil” in FQ/Marigny

      Have a great trip!

Friday lunch- Patois? It's the only day they are open for lunch, I believe, and the place gets a lot of love from this board. Rue 127 for Thursday lunch? Or Friday lunch.

I'd make a reservation for Coquette, unless you think you'll be early or late.

There's a crawfish boil reporting thread here, you can figure out crawfish plans from that...There's also Big Fisherman on Magazine. I'm pretty sure that there's a place on Frenchman that does crawfish on Thursday nights... Maison? It's on that crawfish thread.

      Enjoy!

Thanks about Patois and Rue. I'll be back in June, so those will for sure be on my list if I miss them this time. And yes, as we get closer, will watch the crawfish board, I love that you called it crawfish plans. He He!!! THANKS...

After I posted this, I saw the other thread that had more suggestions- glad that you are getting all the advice (and then some) that you need!

Thinking about Rue 127 based on reviews. Maybe for the Friday lunch.
