J&R Meats & Sausage opens in Templeton

The owners of J&R Meats in Paso Robles are opening a new retail shop in Templeton near Trader Joe's on Rossi Rd.

I had stopped by Pier 46 for a quick seafood fix and found the meat shop by stepping out onto the side patio at Pier 46. I hadn't realized there was a shop next door--but it was being readied for opening this Friday if their final inspection comes on time.

They do custom butchering of course, but will also offer a choice of ready-cut lamb, beef and pork. They offer many types of homemade sausage; now with their more convenient location for my county travels, I'll be able to try them. In talking with the owner, he stressed he'll be sourcing the meats as local as he can get. He will be offering some game as well. I'll try to get more info on his suppliers after they open.

Just in time for BBQ season !

Glad to hear they're open! I saw the store being readied the last time I made a trip to TJ's and was very excited at the prospect of having a good local butcher nearby, especially with my partner and I recommitting to eating more naturally.
