Waterloo & City or Animal Restaurant for Friday night?

I would like to try both out but can't decide which one I want to go to more. The party will be 4 girls for some serious chowing.

I would go based on geographical desireability. Also, W&C has a full bar with interesting cocktails:)

Interesting... thanks for the input :) One of the ladies is 6 months pregnant, so maybe Animal would be better b/c she can't drink or eat certain cured meats so I'll save to that for another time. Any suggestions for other dishes?

I really liked the grilled baby broccoli with soft egg, pancetta vinaigrette and parmesan the last time and the grilled octopus was also quite good. Finally, if I see sweetbreads on the menu I get it.

Yes the poutine, oxtail gravy, cheddar...so good, and the barbeque pork belly sandwiches, make sure you get two orders so each one of you can have one.

Assuming you already have reservations for both (as that could limit the choice) I would say in my opinion the responses are overwhelmingly positive for Animal and mostly positive for W&C. By that metric alone, I'd go Animal purely for the increased chance you'll like it.

Never been to Animal but Servorg wishes he could live there - that's a huge endorsement. Been to W&C and have to say that the drinks and charcuterie are top notch - those two alone are worth going for, and you can easily make a meal out of just their charcuterie and maybe a salad to reduce the meatatarian guilt. Four girls diners with huge appetites could probably finish most of a "King" but I'd start off with a "Prince." We also enjoy their pizzas, salads, and meaty entrées.
