Looking for casual, cozy, rustic spot - 10 people

My 50th birthday - 10-12 people.

Looking for comfortable spot with excellent food and service. French, Asian, etc. Along the line of Market or Il Buco. Nothing pretentious or formal - but special enough for my birthday!

Ideas? Thanks!

Another possibility is Asellina in the Gansevoort Park Avenue. I was with a group of 12 there a couple of weeks ago. We had one of the big long tables on the lower level, and the meal was family style. It was great fun passing around the platters and having tastes of all sorts of dishes. I wasn't the organizer, so can't speak to the price or how much notice was required for a group dinner like this.

Peasant was the first place that popped into my head as well - the word "rustic" tends to trigger it. Great food, warm wibe.

Other places coming to mind - keeping in mind that these offer varying degrees of "rustic" - for some it's the setting, for others the food... and of course, rustic French is different than rustic Italian is different than rustic American, etc etc etc:

Spotted Pig (they'll do rezzies for groups of 7+)
The Breslin (suckling pig or whole lamb dinners only)

        Mas (Farmhouse)
        Craft / Craftbar
Cookshop / Hundred Acres / Five Points

Do you happen to know more about Spotted Pig's policy for larger groups? Prix fixe? Room fee?

I've never done it, personally, but I assume it's probably the standard gratuity-included kind of deal. It might be private-room-only for groups, though, not sure.

See if you can reserve the downstairs room at 'inoteca.

By Market, do you mean Market Table?

I'd give Peasant or 'inoteca a look.

Peasant is what came to mind for me too...Cacio e Vino could be ok too if want slightly less cost...and i was in the bar at Macelleria this evening, and while we only had drinks, the food on other tables looked very yummy :)
