Lunch between Macarthur Park and K-Town?
I take the bus to my new internship near La Fayette Park, and I want to find lunch places that are a ten-minute walk or less away. Walking east for ten minutes takes me to Macarthur Park (Wilshire/Alvarado); walking west for ten minutes takes me to the eastern edge of Koreatown (Wilshire/Vermont).
I don't want to spend more than $10 - less than $5 would be preferable - although maybe I'll splurge on Langer's if I'm feeling particularly flush. What are my options? There seem to be a lot of Guatemalan and Salvadoran places in that area - anyone know anything about those?
Without any doubt you should go to:

Don't know how long it takes to walk down to Pico, but El Colmao (Cuban) and La 27 (Nicaraguan) are both good. You made need that walk to work off lunch at either, though. They're not fast food though, which is probably more what you're looking for.

Ooh, the tamale place sounds brilliant. Pico's a bit far, though...
What about on the Korean side of things?

There are haters but to this Korean palate, BCD tofu tastes fine - on Wilshire, couple of blocks W of Vermont.
Ham ji park on 6th also a bit W of Vermont- prob more like a 15 minute brisk walk.
You'll have a tough time getting out for under $10 for most Korean food in a full service setting. With tax & tip, even a lunch special will run you $12-15. could be an occasional treat.

Pesco Mojado 610 S Rampart Blvd # 12. 6th and Rampart. Office used to run there every Friday. Not that we were Catholic, we just liked the food.
