Casa Di Giorgio Ristorante (Mount Pleasant/Davisville) - closed or still under reno?
Hi, Uptown Chowhounders,
Does anyone know if the Casa Di Giorgio at 517 Mount Pleasant Road is still renovating or has closed altogether?

The last time I walked by (several days ago) they still had a note taped to the window saying they would re-open in (I believe) "a few days" -- that note's been there for weeks now if I'm not mistaken.
Also, I noticed on the sign in the window that they got a conditional pass from Pubic Health, though I didn't note the date of the inspection; I wondered if that had anything to do with them shutting down. I checked online today, and it shows that they got a "pass" in January (the last inspection noted online), so not sure why the sign at the restaurant doesn't reflect that.
I haven't seen any evidence of renos when I've gone by...

re: bogie
There were 3 Casa Di Giorgio that I'm aware of. Danforth, Queen East, and Mount Pleasant. Danforth's now a bakery, Mount Pleasant, as reported by torontofoodiegirl, is yet another Thai Malaysian place. I wonder if Queen E is gone now too. I hope not. Those guys have hung in for a lot of years. I used to get delivery from their long ago closed Lower Jarvis location.
Expanding during an economic downturn and offering seriously old-school Italian with the large menu all-things-to-all-people approach probably wasn't a good combo.

re: Googs
Thanks, Googs and torontofoodiegirl!
I surfed a bit and found a recent review of the Danforth loc. that mentions Nikki, who used to be a hostess at the Mt. Pleasant loc.:

If, as googs says, the Danforth is now a bakery, maybe Nikki is at Queen St. now (if it is still open)?
In any case - I concur. It was a great place with reliable quality and superb service, and was always our go-to for birthdays and close friends' get-togethers...
