Anyone been to Pescacane lately? Ideas for a quiet dinner NOT on Miami Beach Saturday night?
We are looking for a restaurant to meet friends we haven't seen for a while and would like the noise level to be low so we can have a quiet conversation. They live in Hollywood, we are in South Beach and want to meet somewhere in between. They especially like Italian. We saw Pescacane in Surfside on the web but don't know anyone who has been there and didn't see any chow reviews. Any comments or ideas welcome.

Specchio Cafe at 9485 Harding Ave. in Surfside, telephone 305.865.5653, is another Italian. We live in Aventura and meet our son there. He lives in South Beach and the location is perfect. Easy street parking. The food is good and the service very friendly. There are several outside tables also. Quiet ambiance and mostly locals eat there. Nothing high powered. Extensive list of pastas including whole wheat. Have eaten at Pescane and Ragazzi also and I prefer Specchio.

re: tlubow
Great location to meet, but last time I was at Michy's for dinner on a Saturday night it was difficult to have a conversation. Tables too tightly spaced and noise level was high once restaurant was full. We have a reservation at TIMO for tonight and we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Thanks everyone. We went to TIMO and had an excellent experience. the hostess seated us at a booth in front which was OK for conversation. Restaurant totally full with 45 min wait list, but reservation honored immediately. Excellent food, beautifully presented and very tasty. Knowledgable and personable server who timed courses well. Reasonable prices, free valet parking. Recommend.

Timo in Sunny Isles is a great idea. http://www.timorestaurant.com/
If it HAS to be Surfside, Ragazzi. http://caferagazzi.com/

re: advisor_Girl
Did not have to be Surfside, just not too far from either South Beach or Hollywood...made a reservation at Timo, thanks for the idea. Do you suggest dining inside or out? Still looking to have conversation without excessive background noise.

AG has become a Timo convert? When did that happen?
Too late for OP - I like Ragazzi for "traditional" Italian, but it also packs the tables pretty tightly and if you find Michy's too noisy, you'd probably find Ragazzi too noisy as well.
Completely different food genre, but Chow Down Grill in Surfside would also have worked.
