Buffalo Chicken Sausage in DC

tzanghi Mar 29, 2011 04:04 PM

Anyone know where I can get buffalo chicken sausage in DC? Preferably stuffed with Bleu Cheese. I'm from the Philly area where this type of sausage is everywhere, and I can't seem to find any in DC. I live in College Park, but don't mind traveling into the city for some of it. Thanks!

The Amish Market at Harbor Center in Annapolis has it. It is delicious. It has blue cheese in the center and makes for great flavor. I grilled it tonight and served it with Ranch Dressing.

If I should happen to go to Philly, can you give me the name of one specific place I could find it?

Sure. DiBruno Bros. in Center City has it along with a great selection of meats and other italian specialties. The famous Reading Terminal Market also has multiple meat stands that sell it as well. I would suggest doing the Reading Terminal Market if you have time for a meal because it has much more to offer than just sausage.

I've never seen it, but it sounds amazing. I know College Park used to have a great farmer's market. Do they still? If there's a small-scale meat vendor there, you may want to talk to them. Otherwise, I'd take the Green Line to Shaw and go to the Sunday 10-2 farmer's market at 1st and Florida. It starts May 2, I believe. There are a few small meat purveyers who might be worth talking with. I know I'd buy some if you could talk them into making it!

I actually work on Sunday mornings 9:45am-1:45pm, so that's out, unfortunately. I've seen the selection at Eastern Market, but I don't feel as though I could talk them into making it. If you ever get the chance to travel up to Philly, pick some up, it's very good and plentiful.

I would try the Amish market off of 198 in Laruel next to the Home Depot. They make different sausage mixtures and it changes all the time. I think they are Mennonites from GAP, PA.

Also, I'm not sure about the farmer's market in CP. I've lived here for about 4 years now, but have yet to hear anything about one.
