Huevos brunch surprise

Wanting to try something different for brunch, looking for low-key, tasty and affordable, I decided to give Huevos a go. I had heard good things, and when I checked Urban Spoon, the menu prices posted there were totally reasonable: http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/57/141999...

Word to the Wise: Those are not their current prices. Everything except the Blue Jay Special is at least a dollar more than this menu says. It must be out of date.

Still, the prices were fair, and I was still game for something new. My boyfriend got the huevos con tamal, which he thought were better than pretty good, but not eyes-roll-up-into-the-head delicious. I was feeling a little lunchy myself, so I got the BLT and boy, was I disappointed. I'd have been okay with a $9 sandwich if it were hearty and delicious, packed with ingredients and bursting at the seams. A little Indian lady in my hometown used to make BLTs on squishy white bread that were at least 3" high with bacon, where the bread didn't even reach around if you stretched it thin. This was it's diametric opposite, it's arch nemesis, it's mirror reflection, a meager, loose-fitting, sad excuse for a BLT. My sweet little Indian lady's were $3.50, if memory serves, and were 10x the sandwich that this was.

My main point is that the menu posted online is inaccurate, so keep that in mind as you make your brunch plans. But when you go, if you go, on my advice, skip the BLT.

For the sake of a fair fight, I'll have to disagree here. Huevos does cheap breakfast and lunch better than just about anyone in town. Also, the fact that OP wants a BLT "at least 3" high with bacon" is kinda disconcerting.

Well, that was the best one I'd ever had, and was only used as the opposite extreme for comparison. The one at Huevos was pretty skimpy for the price. On the other hand, my boyfriend's tamales were pretty tasty. I am not a Huevos hater, just disappointed with the option I picked.
