Late Night Eats in Rome

DistendedBelly Mar 29, 2011 10:54 AM

Buongiorno!

I was wondering if anyone had any late night eats recommendations for Rome?

We're looking specifically for places that late night revellers head to after a night out.

(In NA, it would be relegated to sausage carts, food trucks, shawarmas, (gasp) Denny's.. or something similar)

Perhaps more in the Testaccio area, as it is a clubbing district?

What about areas like Garbatella (also major nightlife zone)?

.. and how about more in the centre of town? A pizza al taglio joint that runs until the wee hours?

Grazie for any pointers + suggestions!

have tagged a few as open late on the Restaurant database - of course, dont know how late "late" means to you. Pubs may also be open late.

Thank you Katie, Jen, barber for all your suggestions!

I've noted them all. In addition to the post night out eats, our flight arrives late next month, and we're not able to eat at most places (eg Bir e Fud's last reservation is at 9:30). The recommendations in this thread will double up as late dinners.

Actually, while on topic - are there places that take dinner reservations @ 10pm? I know it seems like a stretch (esp since most restaurants close @ 11).. but thought I'd ask anyhow, to see if there was such thing!

Thanks to everyone for the links - we will likely hit up one of them when we arrive late from FCO.

      Saluti!

          Heya Jen:

We'll be near the Palazzo Quirinale area. By the time we check in and sort things out, we're looking at dining after 10pm..

Directly from Fiumicino airport or with a short taxi trip from Quirinale, in Rome south-center (Porta Portese), you can have very late dinner at 4:20. You'll enjoy it especially if you like craft beers since dishes are cooked with beer too. They serve dinner (meat and fish) at least up to 1am, actually last time I was there they said 3am! You don't need to reserve for a late dinner...just wait few minutes for the first free table.
Options for a good dining in historical center going at 10-10:30pm can be Roscioli and Il Sanlorenzo (expensive but with Great fish!). For both of these you need to reserve!

Thank you tavoleromane for your help too! I had no idea Roscioli was open so late for dinner (we do have a lunch reservation there though).

I'll look into 4:20 (yes to beers!). Interesting choice of name ;)

Cheers everyone for all your help - seems I've got more than a few choices here!

Roscioli kitchen should be open up to midnight but I've never been so late and it is better you ask them by phone if you are interested to go there after 10pm.
Yes 4:20 name could let you think to something different ;-) but it's one of the beer and food "paradises" in Rome.
                Cheers!

it's been a looong time since my late night clubbing days but we used to go to Er Maritozzaro after. You'll find places in and around Campo de' Fiori that serve late and there are a couple of hole in the walls on Corso Vittorio that stay open late. If you're down for a late night hot dog, there's always The Dog Out, open til 4 or so. I cant add the links! SOrry!

Last time I checked, Lo Zozzone (which is just steps off the piazza Navona) serves up pizza bianca with your choice of toppings and stuffings 23 hours a day (can't remember which hour they skip). Don't know who goes there late at night.
