ISO gluten free cake
I'm coming into Vancouver next weekend for my brother's birthday and want to get him a cake. He's recently discovered he has celiac disease so between that and my unfamiliarity with the city's bakeries, I'm struggling to find something that works. I've done some research and have noted these bakeries:
The Sweet Tooth Cakery
The Gluten Free Epicurean
Edible Flours
Is anyone familiar with them or able to recommend an alternative? It's his 40th so would like to find something good! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your input. Before I place an order, one last question - does Sweet Obsession produce good quality cakes? They have a chocolate mousse cake which looks good.

re: sman
Thank YOU for inspiring me to look at the Sweet Obsessions website. I discovered that all the dacquoise are gluten free. My GF friends are going to be excited :-). FYI one of them has chocolate mousse in it: THE CONCORDE Hazelnut meringue, layered with rich chocolate mousse, covered with spires of meringue.

This is a suggestion from a gf friend, so not a first hand recco: http://www.kreationartisancake.com/
Apparently they can make a number of their cakes gluten free (see starred entries on website). I have tried some of their regular items which are tasty FWIW.

Panne Rizo makes gluten free birthday cakes as well. We ordered one for our daughter when she turned 1. The cake was ok but better than I thought it would be (from what I remember, it tasted like a dense carrot cake with a mock cream cheese type frosting). I should say that we had them make ours without soy, gluten, egg, and dairy due to her allergies at that time so that could have been why it wasn't better than ok.
