A very special dinner!
We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary in Las Vegas in a few weeks. Although one of us eats everything...the other is basically a vegetarian who will eat some fish...sole, halibut or salmon...but no meat, or shellfish. Where would you go to for a very special, romantic, quiet dinner with wonderful atmosphere, great service, terrific food, but nothing too adventurous for the vegetarian/fish-eater among us. We want something very special where cost is not an object, where special dietary requests will not be frowned on, where we will be catered to and at the end of the evening we will know that we have celebrated our special anniversary in style. Wonderful atmosphere, service, wine list and cocktails are essential!
I suggest B&B, the Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich venture in the Venetian. I have to say that I kept expectations low as generally have an aversion to the relationship between Las Vegas and celebrity chefs. But what I should perhaps consider is the person actually cooking the food isn't a "face" but an educated craftsman who clearly, evidenced by way of my plate, cares about taste, ingredients and presentation. One bite into my pasta and my brain was a contact ticker tape of superlatives. I hope you add it to the list because I think you'll really enjoy it.

Just one caveat on B&B; while the kitchen brings a lot of creativity (one of the precious few Strip restaurants that continue to seasonally turn their menu over), the atmosphere might not fit your purposes - you are basically subject to the whims of "Mario's I-Pod" on a given night, and because most of the seating is open to pedestrian traffic walking by, on a busy night privacy can be lacking.
Atmosphere tends to be a very personal call, but here are three suggestions that may be in the ballpark of your wish list - Mix (The Hotel, at Mandalay Bay), Prime (Bellaggio), and Bartolotta (Wynn), if you can get one of the outdoor cabana tables (although they do not "officially" reserve them, if you mention your anniversary they will steer you towards an available time to come in). Those give you the chance to relax and celebrate those 25 years (congratulations!), while the food will also not disappoint.

My husband and I recently at at American Fish... and they were extremely accomidating to me as I ordered a tasting menu while the hubby wanted the kobe & lobster. THey even accomidated my special requests on my tasting. as a fish vege eater, I'm sure she will be happy as you choose your fish, how you want it prepared, and sides are a lacarte(though very limited for a vegetarian) Vegetarian dining in vegas can be an issue im sure. Have you tried the tepanyaki place at Bellagio? Shintaro's ambiance is very nice, and the chef is cooking strictly for you...
Sorry if im not too helpful, but both have great ambiance and fabulous food.
