Soup to Take Home - west village

Can anyone help me think of a good place I could stop by for soup on the way home? Could be a restaurant, take-out joint, sidewalk vendor.... whatever. I want to bring soup home for my wife and I tonight, but don't want anything from a can. Will be making my way home from Chelsea through the West Village.

My two favorites are Murray's Cheese (great tomato bisque) and Lobster Place (best clam chowder and other seafood soups). Other options: Amy's Bread changes their soup menu daily, as does Grey Dog Coffee.

Thank you! I had thought of Murray's but didn't know if they had soup. Is Lobster Place the seafood vendor a couple doors down from Murray's?

Yes, they do have soup at their melts grill, but keep in mind that they shut it down at 6 p.m. Lobster Place is right next door.

+1 on the soup from Murray's Cheese.

They do a great Smoky Tomato Soup (photo here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kathyylchan/5428425762/) as well as a reliable Chicken Noodle Soup (photo here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kathyylc...). Price is fair too: $4.50 for 16 ounces. Get a baguette from Tom Cat, which they also carry, some cheese, and you're set for dinner!
