Great restaurants in Hilton Head?
Hi there,
My husband and I will be down in Hilton Head this coming week -- next week. Wanted to reach out to you guys and see if there are a few spots we should try! We'd like something casual but nice (it's a night out for the parents!). And just to help narrow things down maybe something along the lines of New American cuisine.
Thanks!

On the Food Network website Robert Irvine has offered up his top picks in HIlton Head. He likes the osso bucco at Michael Anthony's, the baby backs at One Hot Mama's, the creme brulee french toast at Stack's, a lemon-raspberry danish at Signe's, and the beef short ribs at Eat!, which is his restaurant. These places are all on my bucket list now!

Try a restaurant called The Cottage in nearby Bluffton for lunch and I think they might be open for dinner. Great food and bakery with different menu and it's really delicious and a cute place-you can eat on the porch or a small inside area. They also have a great farmer's market on Thurs. starting at 2 pm in Bluffton.

re: SCgal
we were in HHI last weekend and decided to try Robert Irvine's Eat! and was pleasantly surprised. I don't know what I was expecting but the food was superb. Egg roll with duck confit was excellent. Oysters dusted in corn meal were cooked perfectly. I don't normally eat steak in restaurants but the waiter recommended it and the New York strip was cooked and seasoned beautifully. Best steak I've ever eaten in a restaurant. The only negative thing I'd say is balsamic vinegar was somewhat over used. It seemed to be everywhere. I recommend this restaurant. We also had lunch at Giuseppe's. Good food. Huge portions. My wife and I shared a Weggie and couldn't eat it all.

Have you done a search and read some of the threads to narrow it down? There are plenty of posts just like yours that have a wealth of information in them.

Roastfish & Cornbread is my favorite HHI restaurant. Il Carpaccio is another one of the very few places that gets consistently good reviews, yet I haven't been. I will put it at the top of my list (right under R&C) for this summer.
Incidentally, friends just returned from HHI and said they dined at a place near Coligny called The Sage Room. They said they had a fabulous meal, but I checked out their online menu and I wasn't impressed (butternut squash soup - really? It's such a fall/winter dish). What's the story on this place?

I am a fan of EAT! It is Robert Irvines (Dinner Impossible) place and he is alway there when not traveling. Small Plate, great wine, Fantastic Service!
Truffles on the south end is good also. Hilton Head is not the food place you would think it is but these two are really good IMHO.

I've lived on the island for thirty years and will give you my three favorites. All Italian.
Michael Anthony's on New Orleans Road (south end). Bring money.
Mulberry Street Trattoria. Going off island, take the first left after the Moss Creek light.
Il Carpaccio at Pineland Center. Least expensive of the lot and great thin crust pizza.
