Well, thanks all for the heads-up. Doesn't sound like anything to get excited over... Not that "O" was either.

Marda Loop is severely lacking a decent pub. Union Station - meh. OJs - meh. Garrison - Not bad, but pretty meh. This is disappointing.

Those places are all fine for neighbourhood pubs. At least we don't have one of those cookie cutter Irish pubs.

There's also the Trop (was the Tropicana), which was just renovated not long ago. (I can't really recommend it one way or another because I haven't been there since the reno).

The former owner of Morgans restarted that one. Haven't been there yet (no real plans, either), but, FYI. Doubt it's going to be a food destination.

I was actually at the Trop for lunch on Thursday, mostly out of curiosity.

The re-done interior is nice, but nothing special or different than what's already in the area. My friend had a pizza that looked (and he said was) above average for pub 'za and I had a chicken sandwich that was passable, but again, nothing special. Unfortunately, it was more of the same that can already be found in the area.

23 - there is nothing specifically wrong with any of the pubs in ML, but I find that instead of having one go-to place that I enjoy, I choose based on which pub I'm least bored with at any given time.

The thing I don’t like about F & B is they don’t allow children. Marda Loop needs a place where we can take our kids. I’m tired of driving to earls...

Thats good news I always thought O was terribly inconsistent and Fergus & Bix seems to have developed a passionate following on the west side of town.

it's like Joey's or Earl's, i've been a few times when driving by that area, but IMO it's certainly nothing to make a fuss about.

When F&B first opened up, it was pretty good. Unfortunately, they seemed to lose their opening kitchen staff pretty quick and started turning out below average bar food at above average prices.

IIRC, the people behind F&B were the people that started the Original Joes chain and F&B was their next project after they sold off OJ.

The fact that F&B seems successful in its Westhills location has more to do with lack of competition than anything else, IMO.

I believe tex is referring to the other F&B location. The one in Marda Loop is not open yet as far as I know. The old "O" sign is still up.
