Birthday Chinese Dinner in Richmond

repartee Mar 27, 2011 10:30 PM

A friend and I are going to be taken out for our birthday (around same time).

I'm not wanting to steer everyone wrong but I wonder if there is a place that could be recommended around Aberdeen Mall?

Rainflower? Shanghai Rive?, where we don't have to speak the language.

How many people are you expecting in the party ?

    Cuisine ?

    Approx. budget/person ?

      4 of us.

$25.00 per person. Cuisine? Not too bothered but probably not too hot.

I'm not sure restaurants will "cater" to a party of 4, rather than simply suggesting that you buy take-out. Unless picking up the food is not possible for you.

      Some options:

Red Star at the Radisson (they are under renos but should be open Apr 02) - the $25/pp will be tight, but should be OK.

      Fisherman's Terrace (in Aberdeen Center)

Master Hung Taiwanese Beef Noodle (also in Aberdeen)

Dinesty is closer to Lansdowne station. (It's in Lansdowne Mall). I have been in a long time. It is a Taiwanese run dim sum place.

Dinesty (the Taiwanese one) is on Ackroyd, is actually in the same plaza where Chapters the bookstore is in:

To make it more confusing, there's another "Northern Dynasty" (note spelling difference) on Alexandra Road, north of Lansdowne Mall. They're not Taiwanese-run.

Ack yes. I was thinking of Gingeri in the mall.

It really depending on what cuisine you are looking for...

Coco Hut (Malaysian/Chinese) has good prices, menu is a bit limited, but good for the dollar...

Happy Shabu Shabu is also a good place if you would like to have personal-sized hot pot...

Beijing Cuisine is also not bad, good prices, but quality and service has its hits and misses...

Of course, being us, we would always recommend Top Gun J&C for Cantonese-cuisine...
