Last Minute 1st Trip to Dallas n Ft Worth; need food recs?
Help just found out I will be heading to Ft. Worth and Dallas for the first time tomorrow for a couple of days for work.
No time to research. Need restaurant recs. for dinner. I'm really looking for quintessential Dallas/southern dining experiences ie. BBQ, southern food, tex -mex etc.
No Asian, French, Italian. I have easy access in LA
Thanks in advance!

Further to my above comments about Gonzalez Restaurant, you might be interested in seeing this thread about Gonzalez from DallasFood.org. In particular, the reference about their "salsa fresca".

I still like to recommend Casa Milagro on Campbell Road at Plano Road in Richardson-if you must eat Tex-Mex.

However, if you cross the Trinity to Oak Cliff, on Jefferson Avenue try Gonzalez Restaurant.. Their home made flour tortillas are worth the trip on their own. If you do go, be sure to ask for the (made there) "salsa fresca" with your chips. You have to request it otherwise the salsa is like from a bottle.
I love their pork stew. The drinks are great, too!
Also in Oak Cliff in the Bishop Arts area try Hatties for real "low country" southern food. best shrimp 'n grits in town. Lovely restaurant, too.

For BBQ, Oak Cliff again!
Smoke in the Belmont Hotel and Lockhart Smokehouse in Bishop Arts. Of the two, because of it's Central Texas roots, Lockhart Smokehouse is the closest we have in Dallas to world famous Central Texas BBQ.
Smoke is much more upscale and has less BBQ but their "big rib" is a standout dish!
