Need Help For Spring Break Meals
Last minute dinner planning needed for two moms and their 18 year olds. Staying at Fontainbleau. We would love to try Barton G's. How do we get in? Anything around our hotel worth trying? What is a short taxi ride away? We would like Cuban w music-is Michaels Genuine close? We are spending a fortune on this trip-dont need to spend a fortune on the meals. We live in Chicago and are spoiled w good food already. Thank you advance for your time!
With Barton G's just call and make a reservation, but you will be paying a fortune for mediocre food. The presentation is other-worldly, but the positives do not go much beyond that.
In the hotel are Scarpetta and Hakkasan, which are both quite good, though again pretty expensive. The Forge is close-ish to your hotel, but falls into that price category as well.
From the Fontainbleau, Michael's is actually not a bad cab ride right over 195. It is certainly more budget friendly, in that you can build your meal through small plates with a wide-range in prices. Right around there is also Sra. Martinez.
Joe's Takeaway is a good way to do the stone crabs for a little bit cheaper and with less fuss.
Tap Tap is fun Haitian food, and often have live music. Great price point too. I prefer this to most of the Cuban restaurants in Miami.

Thank you mikek. I have made a reservation at Barton G's, just because it has been recommended by too many people as a fun place to go. I will look in to Tap Tap and Michael's.

It is definitely fun and a spectacle. The 18 year olds will definitely enjoy the crazy presentations.

We are back home in Chicago and the best meal-by far-was Michael's Genuine. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the buratta to the pork belly, from the chicken to the corn, from the tuna to the dessert. Great atmosphere. Barton G was a great show-the girls loved it. My daughter loved her sea bass, best mac and cheese. I thought the staff was on the rude side. Osteria del Teatro was delicious as well. Pastas were creative and unique. A little pricey, but wonderful and friendly staff. Went to Puerto Suaga (?) and found the plantains to be the best thing by far. Did Prime 112 for lunch and thought the kobe meatballs were flavorful and the lobster cobb/chopped salad enough for two to share.
