Nice restaurants in Memphis open Mondays?

  • 7

I was hoping to head out for a high-end meal next Monday, but it's looking like slim pickins for places that are open Mondays. Any suggestions, hounds?

  1. Right now I'm considering Erling Jensen, McEwans, Interim, Napa Cafe. Any votes?

Iris is now open on Mondays and It is widely regarded as the best restaurant in the city. The menu is always changing but if they have the bone marrow served with Brioche and fresh pico as an appetizer I would recommend getting it as it is outstanding. Also, they always have the surf and turf (NY strip stuffed with fried oysters and topped with hollandaise over blue cheese and benton bacon potatoes).

If Iris is booked I would say Erling Jensens as my top choice out of the 4 you named. McEwens and Interim are both great as well it just depends if you want to eat dinner in East Memphis or downtown; they are both casual fine dining and have comparable food. EJ's is a little nicer than the others.

Also, Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen does a no menu meal on Monday which I've heard is outstanding. I love this place but hear that the Monday menu gets very interesting so if you are worried about eating random organ meat this may not be the best choice.

I second Iris and Erling Jensen's but Folks Folly is open on Monday. It's a nice place to go IMO.

Watch for the opening of Wally Joe's new Restaurant Acre in the next month or so.
