Pappas Bar-B-Q at IAH Terminal E

Connecting through Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston this week, I was delighted to find Pappas Bar-B-Q in Terminal E. I've had better barbecue elsewhere in Houston, but living in the San Francisco Bay area, even airport barbecue outshines anything we have locally. I had a sliced beef sandwich going out for lunch, and a sliced beef / link sausage platter with beans and potato salad for dinner on the return flight. It all was very tasty. As usual when I'm in Texas, I pretty much skipped the sauce; the little bit I sampled on the side at lunch confirmed that decision.

It looked like there were several other nice eating options in IAH, but barbecue was the clear regional choice for me. I really like this trend of US airports getting branches of local places into their food offerings!

There's a Pappadeaux there too you should try on your next connection. NOLA seafood and it's delicious. It is great to have real restauranteurs running the food at both our airports now. The dark days of lounge food from wall coolers and spinning hot dogs is over.
