best thick cut fries?

most places seem to serve the skinny type, but which place (restaurant, dive, bar, etc.) has the best steak fries in san diego? i'm in la jolla but willing to travel.

Grant Grill at the US Grant Hotel downtown. Super thick and nicely done. You can skip the truffle treatment if that's not your thing, but I don't know why that wouldn't be anybody's thing.

    Cheers.

My favorite thick cut fries ever, but not in San Diego (sorry!) are at Barney's Hamburgers in Berkeley and Oakland. It has been a few years, so....

wridtrvl, Barney's has opened locations in Los Angeles -- much closer to San Diego than Berkeley if your thick cut fries cravings have to be satisfied.

Didn't realize that the steak fries were the thing to get there. I just had the thin fries at the Barney's in the Brentwood Country Mart (on San Vicente and 26th). Though those were pretty good.

DZ AKINS has thick cut fries. Bully's are great as well.

Bully's are pretty good, especially with their burger and a brew.

exactly sledge...Bully's cheeseburger medium rare and a cold beer.
I like to dip them in mayo and if they are in the fryer just a tad more, they have those crunchy ends that are so good!

I hit up Bully's Del Mar for the races and we usually stop to have ourselves a burger and fries and I recall that they were thick and delicious..

Have you tried the steak fries at Hodad's in Ocean Beach? They are seasoned on the outside (so not a pure traditional steak fry), but delicious nonetheless.
