Where to go for great chili?

The cheap eats thread made me think of chili, and now I have a chili jones, and chili isn't on the list in any answers there. I searched the archives, no recent threads or discussions.

Where do I go for a great bowl of chili? Super meaty chili is what I seek, particularly on the westside.

  1. I know there's probably better chili, but the only one I can think of now is the chili I would get years ago at Hamburger Hamlet. It was actually very good. I understand they changed the name to Hamlet. I don't know if they've changed their menu or recipes.

    1. Not westside, but I like the chili at Engine Co. 28 in downtown LA.

      1. I rather like the chili at Houston's...but it's a Saturday only special!

        1. If you don't mind curing your chili jones in a breakfast/lunch mode (my wife made a big pot so I got mine taken care of last night) tomorrow then, if I were you, I'd call Jinky's in Santa Monica (Sunday hours: 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM) and see which 5 of their many flavors are on their Sunday menu.

          1. The chili at Jinky's can be very good depending on which variety you get. Two other options are Chili Addiction (I have not been but have read positive reviews from several Hounds) and Tub's Fine Chili (which is also pretty good and offers several varieties and a variety of cuts rather than just ground meat). Here are links to posts on both:
