It depends what you are looking for and how far you are willing to travel.

Crave downtown is good - seasonal menu and nice bartenders.

Luigi's is classic pizza and open late.

Larry's has very good bar food and specials - neighborhood joint.

Louie's also has good bar food and is know for their burgers.

Sushi Katsu is a small one-man sushi bar - low key and good.

Diamond Grille is classic steak house with 21st century prices and only takes cash or local check.

New Era makes old-school Eastern European cooking - cheap and good.

El Rincon makes good, cheap, fast Mexican and ask for the green salsa.

Vegetteranean (I always spell it wrong somehow) has the best patio in the city and vegan food. Even if you don't do soy cheese go for drinks when it warms up and you can watch spring creep into the valley.

Welcome to Crackron! (We really do love it here and hope you do too.)

For Mexican food, I'd recommend Rancheros Taqueria, quite cheap, and can't ask for more authentic Mexican food in Ohio. He has a "special" menu too, of more authentic dishes, like moles and menudo (tripe soup), etc.

The three Ken Stewart's restaurants for high-end dining: the Grille, the Lodge and Tre Belle. Of those, I like Tre Belle best, for its excellent antipasto bar. Portions are always huge at Grille and Lodge. Lodge has nice outdoor deck.

I like the D'Agnese's restaurants for medium-scale Italian: Tomato Grille, D'Agnese's Trattoria on White Pond, Bistro at Hammond's Corners.

Piatto Novo in Cuyahoga Falls got a little less adventurous when it moved from downtown to the Sheraton Hotel, but the view cannot be beat.

Have not been to Downtown 140 since the chef moved but it was always a favorite. The chef is now at One Red Door, just down the block.

Moe's in Cuyahoga Falls is pretty adventurous.

Office Bistro in north Akron is a good place for happy hour and small plates.

Lockview, downtown, across from Civic -- more than a dozen different grilled cheese sandwiches, excellent beer and fun wine selection.

Good food and beer but teeny, always crowded dining room at Gasoline Alley.

Edgar's, overlooking Good Park Golf Course. Chef was featured on ABC Nightline recently.

And since you live here, you must now choose a side in the great Swensons-Skyway drive-in burger debate. Go to the originals -- Swensons by the West Point Market (a foodie paradise if you've not discovered it yet) and Skyway in Fairlawn.

          Another couple places recommended:

Gasoline Alley: deli type food, over on Ghent Road.
Chowder House: in Cuyahoga Falls. be sure to try the Lobster Bisque, it's AMAZING!
Al's Corner Restaurant: In downtown Barberton Best Eastern European food around, IMHO.
Eye Opener: Great breakfasts, make your own omelets, green chilli hash.
Sugo: New Italian Bistro just opened in the Falls, on State street, same head chef as Chowder House
Flurys: Little hole in the wall place in C. Falls, known for their pancakes.
Rancheros Taqueria: In the Falls. Some of the most authentic Mexican food you'll find in Ohio. He has a separate specials menu with a number of interesting dishes (like Menudo (tripe soup), mole, etc.

I really like Belgrade Gardens in Barberton. Great fried chicken, unlike anywhere else, good fries, cole slaw, hot sauce.

Golden Goose bakery on State Rd & Broad Blvd for superb baked goods.

Sugo on State Rd for Italian & its sister restaurant, Chowder House, which is putting out the best food in the Akron area right now.

                I second Flury's.

                Louie's for burgers on Tallmadge/Glenwood.

                Swenson's for drive-in burgers.

Rocco's Pizza on Portage Tr. Excellent homemade sauces from a real Italian nonna & their fried chicken is unbeatable.

                Handel's Ice Cream

Mexican taco and burrito truck on 91, a block away from Newton St. Superb & generous portions.

NOT a fan of Barberton chicken (too greasy) & definitely not a fan of Luigi's, by the way (they treat their employees badly & their pizza is nothing to write home about).

Golden Goose in Cuyahoga Falls serves wonderful breakfasts, on top of featuring top-notch baked goods made in house.
