Doctoring store bought waffle mix?

I thought I had a winner from WF. Have been craving buckwheat waffles and found a local Vermont Buckwheat honey waffle mix but the results were eh. I'm thinking of adding some butter millk powder but it needs more. Any ideas greatly appreciated!

i love adding pumpkin puree to mine.

or possibly gingerbread spices and molasses for gingerbread pancakes

cornmeals already been suggested but it very good.

peanut butter is also a really nice addition!

Finely ground walnuts, almonds and cashews.

Corn and walnuts.

Or coconut.

Damn, don't have a waffle iron so I may have to do this with some pancakes.
