WHAT?! I'm very, very sad. I had one of the best meals in L.A. there.

Just saw that too. Quite a pity. I wonder if he'll be cooking more permanently at Vertical.

No! Some friends and I were planning a trip to try Bistro LQ for the first time as soon as I got through a particularly busy period at work. That was definitely top of our list of restaurants that we have not yet tried.

Very sad. Looks like LA isn't ready for that type of cuisine and that level of cheese service. I'm convinced he'd kill it in SF, NYC, or Chicago. I wish him the best.

No! I really wanted to eat there and I was saving up for it! Really disappointed.

Unfortunate for Los Angeles. One of the better places in LA.

I guess SIV got that one right.

Wow - I was floored when I saw this post. Having gone through some severe financial setbacks the last 2 years, pricier meals are now a treat, and LQ was one of our favorites on a very short list. We're nobody important, but we've had the pleasure of following Chef Laurent from his Bistro K days. Just sent him a little email to encourage him, and was surprised to get a response back - he said he'll be cooking more at Vertical & will have a few pop-up projects in the next few weeks. We've been to many culinary masterpieces, and I am hard-pressed to find the caliber of cuisine relative to his prices. I know I wish him the best! (Glad we actually visited Bistro LQ 4 times...)

Indeed a very sad and disappointing day to see our favorite restaurant closed. We also got an email from Laurent mentioning that he will cook more now at Vertical (including some of the planned dishes from the spring menu) and that his planning some pop- up concepts. Looks like that some problems with his landlords were the final reason for closing the restaurant. Hopefully he will start something similar in the future.

My wife and I went there on March 19th for my birthday. They had run out of sweetbreads several days earlier which I thought was odd but that compelled us to get the 7 course tasting menu. It was the best of my 4 or 5 visits there. Afterwards my wife remarked that we should go to LQ more often. Even if it gets transplanted to some extent at Vertical, Pasadena is just not all that geographically desirable for us. And who knows how long it will be before we see another incarnation of LudoBites.
