Co-worker dinner- fully vegetarian kitchen, alcohol
Chowhounders assemble! I need some help picking a place for a work dinner, and unfortunately their dietary restrictions place this out of my realm of expertise.
It has to be a place that can seat a group of 8-10 people- they must serve alcohol (preferably hard alcohol), and 3 of these co-workers are vegetarian. On top of that, one of them is specifically Orthodox Jain, and is actually not supposed to eat any food cooked in a kitchen that also cooks meat. He is a very good sport about this and very accomodating himself, but I am trying to also be as accomodating as possible, so I am trying to find a restaurant that only serves vegetarian food.
Last time we went out we went to Tiffin Wallah, which worked out, although they didn't serve hard alcohol. I would love to try something in a different cuisine this time around, and maybe more adventurous- like Dirt Candy- although I am aware that they are quite small, and the price point on that restaurant may be a bit out of our budget.

My friend who is vegan used to have dates take her to Candle Cafe or Candle 79. I know CC has beer and wine. I have never been but they are vegan.
I have also heard good things from her about Caravan of Dreams. They also serve beer and wine. Maybe the price point is too high there also.
ANother suggestion she gave was Counter Restaurant http://www.counternyc.com/ which is an organic wine and martini bar and vegetarian bistro.
Hope this helps.
