Lunch next Saturday...

Flying in Friday night from the great Midwest.

We have a rez @Andina for lunch, but wondering if you recommend some other don't miss place? We will be visiting Powell's in the morning before leaving PDX for Newport in the afternoon and would love to eat somewhere close to Powell's. Any recs?

I've heard great things about Andina.

    It's not like I don't like Andina, and it is closer to Powell's than what I am about to recommend, but I would go to Wildwood:

    Totally worth the effort and price...and they have free parking behind the restaurant (not a common thing here). The crab cakes are some of the best I have ever had, they do a great burger, have amazing skills with fish and lamb, and source almost everything locally.

    But if you go to Andina, you will still have a good meal, I am sure. ;o

        We just came back from lunch at Wildwood, it was excellent! The Mussels were delicious and so was my papradelle pasta dish. My husband loved his burger, also. :)

          Mmmmm, sounds good. Will have to carefully weigh Andina w/ Wildwood. :)

        We loved Andina, and will be visiting Wildwood before we head home.... looks like a great menu!

          We shared 5 starters for dinner this past weekend: roasted fennel chowder w/ smokey bacon; red beet and grilled carrot salad w/ watercress, pistachios and feta-mint vinaigrette; grated radish bruschetta w/ grilled rapini, mascarpone and sea salt; pork scallopini w/ red wine mashed potatoes, rapini, salsa verde and feta; ricotta gnocchi w/ wild nettle puree, pancetta, sorrel and dungeonness crab meat. Wow... yummy! The gnocchi was our least favorite, the rest vied for 1st place. DH had a glass of Soter Pinot Noir -- very very nice. We both give it 2 thumbs up for this Willamette Valley vino. You should definitely put this on your list. Oh yeah, the bread was from Ken's, of course.
