Raw egg yolk substitue for frosting recipe?
I am in the middle of making a chocolate cake from one of the Barefoot Contessa books and just realized the chocolate frosting calls for one raw egg yolk. Problem is, I am taking the cake to a dinner party tomorrow and I am pregnant and so is another woman who will be there and we're not supposed to eat raw eggs. Any idea what the best substitute would be for the yolk without compromising consistency in the frosting?

What about pasteurized eggs? I've never used eggs in my frostings, so I don't know how an egg substitute would affect your recipe. I'm sure others here would know. If you can't find a substitute in time, how about making a frosting that is egg free? So many delicious recipes out there that don't include raw eggs. Enjoy your dinner party. I'm sure your cake will be delicious!
