Call out to carnivores/foodies for Steak Houses in CH/Durham
I'm making reservations for a special night out for a carnivore. Not sure if Bin 54, Ruth's Chris or Shula 347 is the way to go, as we've never been to any of them. Also, neither Ruth Chris or Shula's lists prices on their online menus, how do they compare to Bin 54? (Please don't recommend Angus Barn as I've never been terribly impressed with their food, service or atmosphere.)

re: romansperson
Been to Chamas, and it's not exactly intimate or something I'd want for a birthday dinner with my spouse (don't want to come and needing three hours just to digest dinner). A lively celebration with friends, yes. I'll have to try Metro 8 in the future instead of always going to Watts when I'm on that side of Durham. Thanks.

Ditto on Bin 54. I highly recommend the sea scallop appetizer, and the bone-in ribeye, the latter of which is *obscenely* priced, but in my mind worth it for a special occasion. It's a very generous portion, and it could be shared. Or, get two and have the best doggie bag ever.
Incidentally, Bin 54 has a happy hour Mon-Fri from 5:30-7:00, with 1/2 price appetizers at the bar.

I think prices are about the same for comparable amounts/cuts. Both Shula's and Ruth's Chris are pretty generic chain steakhouse sorts of places.
I'd take Bin 54 without thinking about twice. Weird location, nice place.

re: brokegradstudent
Completely agree with brokegradstudent. Shula's is actually very very weird -service off in so many ways, room seemed just about empty the time we were there, food came out wrong. Bin 54 is really very good. They had a dip in quality for a while there (in my opinion) but seem to be back on their game.
