Pancakes downtown

After many years of satisfying my brunch urges with a fry up, I suddenly find myself craving a syrupy kind of breakfast.. Any good recs for a place that does pancakes/waffles are much appreciated.

  1. Had some pretty delicious buttermilk pancakes (among other things) at the Queen and Beaver recently. Warning: they didn't skimp on the oil they cooked them in.

Does anyone know where one can find good buckwheat pancakes? I've had a real craving... I found them on the Frank menu, but those ones look a bit too fancied-up (fruit compote, etc.) -- I'm looking for something more traditional (plain, accompanied by real maple syrup).

I haven't been there yet but the new Fanny Chadwick (Dupont and Howland) has buckwheat pancakes on their menu.

Thanks peppermintpate - I'd never heard of Fanny Chadwick's, but may have to give it a try. For others who might be interested, here's another thread about it (slightly mixed reviews, but the brunch sounds fairly good):

    2. Patrician Grill serves pancakes, but I've never tried them.

The one on College might be closer to downtown (though not exactly downtown).

          2. try the baked pancakes at either Cafe Nervosa or Insomnia Cafe
