Bacchanalia Italian Restaurant
Has anyone been here?
A co-worker of my wife's is insisting we try it. He is from Chicago but hasn't lived there since the 80's and I know the restaurant landscape there has drastically changed since his days of living there.
I'd either have to give up a meal at Cafe Spiaggia or Mercat a la Planxa to go. I'm personally opposed to the idea but I said I would come on here and ask to see if I could get any feedback.

I haven't been there and hadn't heard of it. There's a big discussion about it on Chowhound from 5-7 years ago with a couple of positive reviews and at least one negative one: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/114701 Whereas Cafe Spiaggia and Mercat a la Planxa are both well known and consistently highly regarded by most Chowhounds. (I've enjoyed dinners at both of them.)
I gotta ask, though - is this co-worker of your wife going to be joining you at this dinner? If not, why not just go where YOU want to go, instead of relying on hazy memories of someone who hasn't been here in 20-30 years?
Thanks. I did a search and nothing came up...
No, he's not joining us. He just tells her it's the best italian in the city and to go there and I said I would try to get some feedback on it. There is less than a 5% chance I'm going to change any reservations as of right now since we are flying up there on Friday morning.
