Hodad's, a well known hamburger joint (as seen on tv) located in the Ocean Beach area, is in the process of opening up a second location in the downtown east village area, not far from the Gaslamp and ballpark. The latest I heard was they were trying to open in time for baseball season, which begins on April 5th.

Um, here's the basic problem with your request - the Gaslamp, while great, is largely the realm of conventioneers who have expense accounts. The landlords know this and charge a lot of money for rent. The restauranteurs know this, and under pressure from their landlords, they focus on the tourists and the conventioneers. So for us locals - the ones who would eat street food and diners and drink good craft beer - don't go down to the Gaslamp all that often.
Better areas for what you are looking for tend to be Mission Hills, North Park (30th Street is pretty good for beer), Normal Heights, and a few other places I can't think of right now.

There aren't really any street food or diners in the Gaslamp. I guess there's that hot dog shop and the Kebab Shop but neither are really anything to write home about. You'd be best off taking a short cab/walk to Tacos El Paisa or La Fachada (both near Imperial and 25th) or Las Cuatro Milpas (Barrio Logan).
For beer Neighborhood and Downtown Johnny Brown's are your best options.

It may be worth taking a cab to Jaynes Gastropub or Ritual Tavern, both are good options for food and
excellent beer selections. As for street food, I'd recommend Marisco's truck on Univ & 35th for good baja fish tacos. Also, Studio Diner for a patty melt or some comfort food.

The best "craft beer" option would be Downtown Johnny Brown's.
The Yard House has a lot of taps, and they actually have a few local options these days (unlike when they first opened, when they carried one Stone variety and that is it), but they are a chain, FWIW.
