Anyone try Fin in Dennis, Cape Cod?

  • 8

I heard from one who has and said the food was terrific, but the atmosphere was somewhat lacking.

For those who don't know, the excellent chef from the Brewster Fish House, Martha Kane, has left and with her aquaculturist husband, Jonathan Smith, opened FIN at the site of the old Gracie's Table next to the Playhouse. The menu looks promising, as does the wine list. I'm hoping for a new gem on the northside to frequent. this may be it.

(Phelena, you seem to be going out a lot these days with a new beau...give us hounds a report!)

IS this true or a reasonable guess?

Reasonable guess...but I'll get to the bottom of it! I have inside connections...

My friend's friend went and enjoyed it very much but said the decor was about the same and "nothing special" whatever that means..take this as third party feedback until we can have a CH report in....I have to say overall I am never excited to see Cod on a menu and realize exactly what I am saying residing on Cape Cod...just not thrilled...I have a sense I would order two apps which is what I usually do these days...the goat cheese salad and crab cakes...

The decor comment is conststant with what I heard. Not sure what it means either. Have to agree on the cod as well. The butter poached lobster was always a standout at Brewster Fish so I'm happy that's on the menu. Like you, I often go the double app route. Oyster Chowder and Yellowtail and urchin Ceviche sounds yummy!

The Jonah Maine crab cakes were standards at the Fish House, had been on the menu for years. That kitchen was one of the few on the Cape that could make cod rise above the ordinary, though I usually found other fish there that I preferred.
