Where can I buy Kroueng
Kroueng is a base Cambodian/Khmer spice mixture and I'm wondering if anyone knows where it can be purchased premixed? It likely must be refrigerated because of some of the fresh ingredients. Ive never ever seen fresh turmeric rhizome and kaffir lime zest is very rare.
"Kroeung(គ្រឿង) is the base flavor of many Khmer dishes, often being dubbed with the "Kroeung" suffix. similar in form and function to Thai curry pastes. There are many ingredients that can be pounded into the herb paste, but the eight most commonly used are Lemon grass, Kaffir lime zest and leaves, Galangal, Turmeric, Rhizome, Garlic, Shallots, and Dried Red Chillies. This herbal paste is essential in order to create the authentic flavour for preparing Khmer dishes."
Thanks in advance.
Since, as you say, it contains fresh ingredients and must be kept refrigerated, it's highly unlikely you'll find an on-line or mail-order source. Your best bet is to find a Cambodian or Khmer restaurant that makes it for use in their own cooking and try to buy some from them.
