Fantastic!!

While my daughter and her family were visiting us here in Tampa...she wanted to have some GOOD mexican food... after checking the chowhound boards ... we decided on Algustos.

We were not disapointed- Alberto, the owner gave us advice on menu choicesand unparalled service! Even my 2 grandkids loved it and they are very picky!

There is something for everyone and all tastes of spiciness!! From my daughter for whom "hot "is never spicy enough ...to myself who enjoys the milder flavours.

Thanks to Alberto and his staff for a wonderful meal and entertaining evening!

I'll have to try that again. Last time I went, it was the usual Americanized Mexican food, with your typical refried beans & rice, your choice of enchilada/burrito/quesadilla, etc.

When I think Mexican, I think sopes, menudo, tortas, the good stuff :)

We followed his recommendations and while my daughter loves all the dishes you described - my tastes are a bit more mundane ...(Americanized??) and they were able to satsfy us all!

What did you and your family have? To be honest, while it's great to read about their willingness to accommodate your family is great, without knowing what they made to warrant your first entry to Chowhound (welcome by the way) - well, it was a bit of a let down! So please, tell us what you and your family enjoyed and maybe share your takes on other restaurants you enjoy in subsequent posts!

There seems to be something incongrulous in your assertions that Algusto is "fantastic" and that you were "not disappointed." Nonetheless, I am also an advocate of the "milder flavours."
