  1. Vesper, on Vinkenstraat
    Bo Cinq, on Prinsengracht

Amsterdam is NOT a cocktail bar city.

thanks we went to vesper which was very charming & served up a couple of well made drinks.

    2. Cocktail bars aren't widespread in Amsterdam, but they're slowly catching on. Vesper is one of the best, but you could also try Feijoa (Vijzelstraat, near Rembrandtplein) - their gin infused with cucumber and served with a stick of rhubarb is a great summer drink; Harry's Bar (Spuistraat 285) is well established, although I haven't been personally; or the Dutch outpost of Little Buddha, the Asian-inspired restaurant and lounge concept, recently opened near Leidseplein. They have cut-price cocktails daily between 5pm and 8pm. The Hibiscus Margarita is good.

      1. also, speakeasy Door 74 (you have to phone for a reservation).

Not a bar, but interesting if you're into cocktails and spirits, is House of Bols, the cocktail and jenever museum (opposite van Gogh Museum)

I think this place probably one ups Bols, just because Bols doesnt make the best liquor - this place made some excellent stuff
