  • 2

I will be taking my family out to see the places where I grew up and touring outside of town to include Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Valley of Fire, Red Rock, Calico Basin (used to have kegers there :). Any recs for snack, lunch places while we are outside of town?

  1. boulder city has a few places to eat .i know there is a place called milos and i think there is the coffee cup that was on diners drive etc.as far as red rock all i know is the casino there and bonnie springs .

    1. Valley of Fire. The only things in that general direction is a coffee shop at the Petro Truck Stop at the Las Vegas Speedway exit. Good eats. And Viva Zapata's is a decent Mexican place on Craig Road just west of I-15.

Coming from or going to Hoover Dam, stop in Boulder City at either The Coffee Cup Diner or Mel's Diner.

On the way to Red Rock, stop at Rocco"s New York Italian Deli & Pizzeria. http://www.roccosdelilv.com/. Great pizza, sandwiches and more pre-made Italian deli items than you can fit into the trunk.

There's no restaurants at Lake Mead. Seeing the lake with the water level so low is quite sad. If you have good memories of the lake, don't bother going at all. There's really nothing to see.
