No, but since your new name is foodcrawl, I assume you are here to educate us.

Not educate per se, but to get a group going in Houston

Yes - the Houston Chowhounds Yahoo group (unaffiliated with chow.com) irrregularly organizes food crawls -- I seem to recall a taco truck crawl, a couple of coffee crawls.

      http://groups.yahoo.com/group/houstonCH/

is their mailing list/discussion board and they also have a Facebook group. They also regularly organize monthly lunch or dinner outings to one restaurant or another - these outings are announced on their mailing list.

Turns out ChowHounds isn't really active anymore, I tried joining the yahoo groups and never got confirmed.

So what to do? Create one! Find me on facebook and twitter, we'll do the first crawl in April!

Houston Chowhounds on Yahoo is still quite active. Your confirmation may take a little while right at the moment though, because Jenny Wang (@imneverfull on Twitter) is out of town in Taiwan due to the passing of her grandfather.

Yea, I've checked the twitter posts as well.

I've already got a group going, but thanks for the info.

                  Hi Bob!

I just got this started a little over a week ago and interest is really growing quick!

I thought long and hard about the first crawl but it seems only natural to start out with the food that started the whole crawl phenomenon...and that of course is dumplings.

I see you're quite a regular here...Would you be interested?

I've been known to tuck into a dumpling or two.

I'm with Jaymes, Any weekend is pretty much good for me.

Late morning/Early Lunch, (i.e. dim summish)?

Kinda short notice for this week, (unless the immediacy of your tweets renders such reservations nonsensical). I could do it either Sat or Sun, though church may be an impediment for some. For me personally, there's nothing so holy as a perfectly formed dumpling, but I'm not here to proselytize.

As for suggestions, I have a few but they have been noted elsewhere and are fairly much the standards: Ocean Palace, Golden Palace, Kim Son, Sinh Sinh, Tan Tan, Dumpling King...but I've been to all of those places.

Though I wouldn't mind any of those one bit, I'm most interested in something new.

C'mon guys, spill. Tell us about your favorite place.

Of course, I wouldn't dream of scheduling a crawl at the last minute. My initial thought is for Saturday, April 16th for lunch.

I'm with ya there! My whole thought behind getting this up and running is for us to experience new places! And to have some fun while we're at it!

So you're saying that whole "be spontaneous" thing is way overblown then?

                                (Just kidding.)

I'll keep an eye out for updates and hopefully someone, (LOTS of someones) will post some suggestions.
