Will be visiting mother-in-law in Sapporo.
No oven, any suggestions on counter top convection/microwave oven with both english and Japanese "directions"? I am bringing a ham and a turkey.

If you are going to Sapporo, my advice would be to eat out. As often as possible. The izakaya food in Sapporo is fantastic. Sapporo has incredible fish and produce. Let the markets tell you what you will be having and keep preparations simple.
Since Sapporo has some terrific uni and crab, you could do risottos or pastas.

They sell such things at most of the big electronics stores. I used to have a great one with a broiler and steam convection - I think it cost about 280US at Bic Camera. You can do it cheaper though, possibly in the 175-200 range.
