Vegetarian UES

Going out with some vegetarian friends from out of town. Can anyone recommend a good vegetarian place on the Upper East Side? In particular, any preferences between Candle Cafe and Gobo?

    gobo is great and has good service-the menu is more straight forward than candle 79

      I would recommend candle cafe...if you want to spend a little more it is definitely worth it to go to their sister rest. candle 79 it is much better and the ambiance is way better. The chick pea cake is to die for. (get extra sauce). Gobo is good for takeout but the service isnt great for sit down meals. (they also get a horrible review from the nyc health department even though they managed to get a good grade). Hope that helps.

          also I meant to tell you that if you are just looking for vegetarian and not vegan Counter is good. There menu is not very extensive, but the food is good.
