Hi Chowhounders,
My husband and I are going to see Legally Blond in Riverside (LONG DRIVE) and we would greatly appreciate any recommendation you have for us to have dinner out there. The theatre is located near Mission Inn Ave and Market Street if that's any help. We are open to any cuisine and price range (well let's not go Michellin rating here) it can be a great dive joint or a nice place with table cloths. We're just looking for a good meal in a town we've never been to before.

Thanks!
LK

Your best bets are probably Mario's Place on Mission Inn Ave. http://www.mariosplace.com/
The Salted Pig mentioned below or Phood on Main which serves dinner on Friday and Saturday only.

I like The Salted Pig quite a bit, but I don't think you can compare it to Omakase at all (which I loved). And it's not necessarily better than Mario's Place or Phood on Main--just depends on what you want. There have been quite a few hitches in each of my 4 visits to The Salted Pig and while each visit has gotten better, it's not without detractors.

Phood on Main is my favorite lunch spot in town, but I haven't been for dinner in over a year. It's within easy walking distance of the Fox, though (as is Mario's) and it's gotten quite popular at dinner (you need a reservation).

    Hope you enjoy the show--

I grew up in Riverside and far and away the best rstaurant experience I have ever had in returning over the years was at Omakase, which was really too good for the local community to support- it closed last year.

The extremely talented chef, Brein Clements, and his wife have since opened the Salted Pig. Without having stepped foot in the Salted Pig, I can assure you that it is probably the best restaurant in town based on my experiences at Omakase. It is a few blocks from your venue at 12th and Main. I'll add a place record later, for now check out http://www.saltedpigriverside.com/
