Reuben Sandwich

Where in Toronto could I find a real good Reuben Sandwich (rye bread, 1000 island dressing, swiss chesse, all the works)?

I might get flamed for this but I find Druxy's does a good, standard Reuben at a fair price.

If it's the wee hours, and you want to spend more and get the same sized sandwich as Druxys, but eat it in a cool, sleek, retro setting, The Counter offers a reuben.

I know Caplansky's is doing a "Reubenesque" lately with their smoked meat, sauerkraut, homemade dressing etc.

The Corned Beef House on Adelaide.

          Agreed on Corned Beef House.
I was waiting to see how they made out at the new location. Glad to hear they are still in the game. I miss the previous owners but the new guys have done their best to carry on with the tradition.

I tried Caplansky's and it would have been great, but it had their orange burger cheese on it - which isn't very good, IMO, nothing worse than a mild cheddar slice on a burger. Use melty American cheese or sharp cheddar, is my way of thinking, and I prefer the former. But yeah, back to the Rueben - he needs to use Swiss. Or maybe a nice cave-aged Gruyere given it's $12, $4 more than the smoked meat sandwich.

He had a hit of mustard in the Russian dressing which was a tweak I liked a lot. Oh and FYI it's a special only, not on the menu, follow him on Twitter as he announces it there.

I'm amazed. I suggested a Reuben to Caplansky before he even opened the spot, and he told me he had no interest in doing one. Said he wanted to do something "unique", not just make another copy of a classic.
