Vine and Fig ( doylestown)
Ate, with another couple, for the first time last night. It was a beautiful night and we sat outside in the back patio which was lovely. The food was also good ( not great but good). However, and this is the first time I have ever felt this way, the waiter was so horrible that none of the 4 of us would ever go back if he was working. He was the only waiter/busboy/greeter for the 6 tables, all outside, so we totally were understanding that he was overwhelmed. However, he was nasty, and rude and really made the meal unpleasant. We had a 7:30 reservation and we stood around till 8 waiting for him to seat us. Not once did he say hi or acknowledge us or apologize for the wait. He just rushed past us numerous times and asked us to move out of his way. The entire eve was like that. Again, we had our wine and were ok with him being overwhelmed if he had even once said I'm sorry. He did complain about how he hated that he had to work on such a nice day and couldn't wait to go home. While I like a funny even sarcastic waiter, he made us feel like we were a total burden.
We all had fish which was delicious. It came with a small salad which was nothing special but fine for a throw in- nice gesture. One desert- the called it a fruit tart but it was a puff pastry shaped like an english muffin with some creme fresh and a few strawberries and blueberries. It was so nice to be outside and the food was good enough to warrant a 2nd try but the thought of seeing the waiter again is too much to endure. I feel bad that the chef/owner who was super nice is losing customers over his waiter.
