Zeppole for St Joseph's Day
If anyone's looking for Zeppole to observe St Joseph's Day on March 19, I saw them today at Amalfitano Bakery in Rancho Palos Verdes. Besides the plain ones about the size of donut holes, the bakery has the larger rounds overflowing with whipped cream and also tubular shell type Zeppole filled cannoli style with ricotta cheese.

P.S. Could someone please add it to the Restaurants and Bars database? Can't do it in mobile.

re: Servorg
Heheh, that was me, after I got home. But don't feel bad, few folks on my home board know how to create a link either.
Here's my post on the sfogliatelle at Amalfitano.

Thanks for posting this. We just ran over to Amalfitano's and picked up our Zeppoles. :-)

re: Tpdero
Thanks, I did manage to slide into the bakery at 5:45p to taste for myself. The ricotta cream filled ones were gone already. I bought:

and
Zeppole Cannolo filled with ricotta
http://www.flickr.com/photos/melaniewong/5551118418/I took these back to my hostess, Grandma Lupe, to share with her. She pronounced them "GOOD". To me, the fried dough was too stale, probably a victim of the hour of the day and also from being refrigerated due to the dairy fillings. But I'm glad I had a chance to try them.
Here's my favorite photo of world-famous Grandma Lupe.

A bit more background for those who know San Pedro: Amalfitano was opened about six months ago, and is owned by the folks who originally owned Ramona Bakery on Pacific. Ramona provided the birthday cakes of my childhood (Strawberry/Banana with whipped cream), and this new bakery has many of the same items.
