Birthday Dinner in Trastevere

My family and I are headed to Rome for four days in June (Sun-Tues night) and I am looking for three restaurants for dinner near/in Trastevere. What would you recommend? I'm thinking a pizza night, a traditional Roman night, and the third night is my birthday dinner, so something special (but not too expensive!). I love awesome food in a relaxed atmosphere. It would also be great to eat outside for my birthday dinner. I know there are a lot of posts on Trastevere but many of them are old. Thank you!

Since @mcmckee posted the same query on the ParlaFood facebook wall and I replied there, Id might as well repost the reply here for everyone's benefit!

For pizza night, I would highly recommend hopping on the tram from Trastevere to Monteverde (the adjacent neighborhood) for dinner at La Gatta Mangiona. The pizza there is outstanding. It is only open at dinner and reservations are essential. Visit Roma Sparita for cacio e pepe, a typical Roman first course, and for your birthday dinner, try Antico Arco on the Janiculum above Trastevere.

Other alternatives include La Gensola (moderate-expensive) and Glass (expensive).

Katie, I just added a link for La Gatta Mangiona. Method (i) looked up the restaurant's google maps place page entry [ search name of restaurant roma] , (ii) hit "manage your links" then the "add a restaurant or bar" highlighted language that appears at the bottom if a link can not be found. I then input the name and full address (copied in from the googlemap place page) in the two fields on the pop up box that appearsand hit "Add Restaurant". The little wheel went around and then it seemed to take but it took several minutes before it actually appeared in the post. Chowhound mods say it could take up to 30 min. But at least its not totally non-functional, even if it truncates the street address (no number)

Hi mcmckee there is a new Trastevere thread here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/771603

There are some great suggestions of places in/near Trastevere in there.
